一言以概之，intrawar包括civil war。Civil war指稱的通常是現任政府與非政府單位的戰爭，

COW資料裡面，intrawar包括這下面三種類型

1)      civil wars involve the government of the state against a non-state entity

2)      regional internal wars involve the government of a regional subunit against a non-state entity

3)      intercommunal wars involve combat between/among two or more non-state entities within the state.

 

被歸類為戰爭的前提是雙方至少要有相當的實力(若有一方一開始比較弱，但後來變強了，也可以被納入)
